Your First
Car
Car insurance for young
drivers is unfortunately usually expensive. Factors
affecting your rates include: your driving record, age
and gender. Driving records are measured by the number
of years licensed and number of years without an
accident. Approved driver training will automatically
give you credit for a 3-year accident free record, even if you have
just gotten your license. Age and sex also play a part.
Generally females pay less than males, and a 16 year old
would pay more than a 20 year old. As you get older, and
at the same time accumulate more accident free years of
driving, premiums will reduce.
Helpful Hints:
The best way to make your insurance cost reasonable is
to start out as an occasional driver on your parent’s
policy if possible. Proceed as quickly as you can to
obtain your full G license – avoid tickets and
accidents. Make your first car an older one so collision
coverage may not be required.
